Winter fashion must-haves 2016 – top 6 trends

By  |  0 Comments

For most of us this holiday weekend is going to be quite noisy, filled with chatter and laughter of friends and relatives, smells of homemade food and rustle of gifts being unwrapped. For the time when you’ll need some “me” time with a cup or glass of your favorite drink, we prepared a review of the hottest and juiciest winter fashion must-haves of 2016, combining our favorite choices from various designer collections into one harmonious concept of what we’ll be wearing in the coming year.

A trend is something elusive, a tendency, that you can sense like a subtle whiff of a perfume, but have hard time describing them. Must-haves, on the other hand, are something tangible; they have a price tag and should occupy an honorary first place in a wardrobe of a fashionable woman.

We’ve reviewed for you an assortment of Autumn/Winter 2016 designer collections, and below you will find the six most fashionable winter trends of next year. As usual, we’ll begin with the leading trend.

Fur (1) is the major trend of the season. Fur scarves, snoods, dresses with fur sleeves, and fur skirts – all of these are sizzling hot despite winter!

We won’t go deep into details here, as earlier we wrote a separate review of the fur fashion trends, still, there are a couple more looks that we’d like to show you for inspiration.

Knee high boots are the number 2 trend. We’ll talk about them with caution, however. It’s not clear whether this is a triumphant return or a farewell tour, but currently, high boots, especially those with the effect “legs, legs, legs..” are super trendy in 2016. The best way to wear such boots is with a short fur jacket.

The essence of A/W 2016 fashion is, of course, a fur coat or jacket (3), and mainly the trend is faux fur in a variety of colors.

If you decided to add these pieces to your fashion wardrobe pay attention to the 3 important factors: the length of the clothes should be mini or midi, the length of the sleeve – ¾ (must-have), the fur should be imitation with either short fibres a la teddy bear, or very long fibres, so that everyone can see that  you are a conscious lady and like animals.

We have to admit (but don’t tell anyone!) that we are crazy about sable fur coats. Fortunately for these beautiful animals, though, the designers created absolutely irresistible faux fur coats in wine and maroon palette, as well as camel and dusty pink colors, which are huge in 2016.

Enough about the outerwear, it’s time to check out what’s underneath those fabulous coats.. OMG! Sheer dresses (4) that stormed the podiums last spring, have turned into such a hit, that the designers couldn’t wait until the next spring-summer season, and introduced them in their winter collections. If you haven’t yet added a revealing dress to your wardrobe, we highly recommend you do so now, as these seductive dresses are a definite must-have in winter 2016.

If last spring you might have felt there was a mismatch in a look combining a jacket and a sheer skirt, in winter this look becomes even more mindblowing. Don’t even ask us how you can make it, well, at least to your car, wearing such an attire (camel wool underwear, anyone?!!). Still, there is something magnetic about this look.

It’s not news to anyone this season that a Bond girl is no longer a girl; she has a more sophisticated air about her now. This is because maturity and luxury is another trend (5) of the season. More importantly, it’s not a vulgar glamour any longer, but rather a noble and refined look. This sophistication is inherent in 2016, in the first turn, in the color palette that is fashionable in winter. The colors are deep and rich blue-greens, dark blues and maroons in all the wine hues from Marsala to Burgundy – an absolute must-have in your wardrobe.

We are not sure which of the styles absorbed the others, but the blending is definitely obvious. So is the rapid development of boho and hipster styles that became so closely allied with the luxury style that they now require a prefix “Haute” or “Chic”.

All the important elements are present: fringe, layering and prints, however now they also have a note of luxury.

Is your holiday wish list long enough now? Ours is VERY long! We really hope that Santa read all your letters and was very generous, since reading about the trends is great, but finding these winter must-haves nicely wrapped under a tree as is entirely different feeling 🙂

Wishing everyone a great holiday season, lots of fashion inspiration and bold style choices!

Yours,
FWM.
