Ladies coats in 2016, top 5 differences

By  |  0 Comments

Outside is cold, with an occasional wind, rain, and even snow in some places. Mannequins in the shop windows are snugly dressed in the latest arrivals of winter fashion collections.

When you see ladies’ coats that are in fashion in autumn/winter 2016, you notice both the subtle changes, as well as the return of some elements that were fashionable a few seasons ago. Alas, nuances that never repeat are what makes fashion fashionable, and today is exactly what we want to talk about. At the center stage of our today’s review are the ladies coats of 2016 and 5 ways how they are different this autumn/winter season.

LOOSE SHAPE (1) and absolute minimalism or absence of embellishment that came to fashion a couple of seasons ago are still at the peak of popularity. Wide coats with minimum decoration and undefined waistline or wrap coats are the absolute hit of the season.

If you do want to wear a belt, wear it loosely, even deliberately negligently, to keep you warm and cocooned, but do not, in any case, define your waist.

COLLARS (2) This season they can be folded, with multiple layers, giving architectural structure to coats, or with a fur trim for cozier look. These are the fashionable choices and key differences of the coats in 2016.

Coats with the folded fabric collar are the absolute hit of this season. We suggest you get a maxi coat since a folded collar creates an illusion of additional height and shapes a very elegant long silhouette.

A collar with structural multiple layers is also trendy this winter, but at this stage we won’t cover it  it in details as we want to concentrate on the third fashionable option you’ve got this season. Read on!

A coat with a fur collar, one-piece or detached, is our favorite fashion trend of this season.

Another fashionable accessory to consider is the fur scarf. We strongly recommend getting a rectangular medium length scarf preferably in a bright color. This is exactly what will make your coat stand out in winter season of 2016. In the end though, it doesn’t really matter what you’ll choose – a fur scarf, cowl, boa, detachable fur collar, as long as your coat features one fur detail or accessory you’ll be in step with fashion.

FUR TRIM (3) is another feature that makes the coats different in the winter of 2016. Important! Whatever you choose to wear: fur collar, fur cuffs, fur pockets or other fur details, make sure you wear only ONE of these accessories. This is the only way you will look elegant and sophisticated.

We head-over-hills about coats with large fur cuffs, preferably all the way up to your elbows! If you are not planning to get one, though, here is a little secret for you: if you get a fur scarf and a fur muff, it won’t matter what kind of coat you have. These two accessories will dial up the glam of your look.

Our tip for regular FWM readers: getting your hands on (or in) fur muffs in winter season 2016 is going to be a little bit challenging as they are not available yet widely in retail. We believe this is going to be one of the trends in 2017.

Moving gradually from collar to pockets, adding pieces of fur here and there, we finally made it to the FUR COAT (4).

Last, but not least: if you go for a navy or a powder pink coat, you can ignore everything we said above. Even if you show up in a metallic patent leather coat, as long as it’s in a powder pink color, you’ll be forgiven.
